Public talk ‘Introducing the Scottish Entanglement Alliance’. The SEA project co-ordinator will introduce the SEA project, invite fishermen to get involved in this, and give a brief overview of her recent experiences in the USA and Canada working with fishermen, federal authorities and disentanglement teams attempting to tackle large whale entanglements in fishing gear there.
The SEA project co-ordinator and Scottish Creel Fishermen’s Federation partner representative will attend the gathering with the aim of speaking with local fishermen about their experiences and perceptions of marine animal entanglements in their area.
Our project co-ordinator Ellie will be travelling around the Shetland Isles from the 11th – 14th September, to invite fishermen to participate in the entanglement project by taking part in short informal interviews and discussing their thoughts on and ideas for the SEA project.
The Scottish Entanglement Alliance (SEA) will have an exhibition stand at the Inshore Fisheries Conference in Inverness in October. Please come and visit us to learn more about the alliance, the work we have been doing so far and how you can get involved.
